Welcome! It is an honor to have you exploring this site.
Since 1994 I have been a massage therapist and in 2001 I completed
yoga teacher training. My primary teachers include:
Nancy Bender, Maureen Kleiman, Susan Ponce - Fuller School of
Massage
Kathleen Barratt – Barratt Breathworks
Anna Pittman – Hatha Yoga Teacher Training
Angela Farmer & Victor van Kooten – Inner Body Yoga
Eckhart Tolle – Power of Now (he is a teacher through
books and lectures on audio &video)
My practice has been fun and busy. I had my beginnings at the
Fuller School. From 1996 to 2002 I worked in my own office on Colley
Avenue in the Ghent community of Norfolk. For four years I shared
space with Breathworks & Alternative Therapies off Great Neck
Road in Virginia Beach. I've always had at least a few in-home
clients. House calls are beneficial to the receiver. After the
session the client can relax further. I have “taken to the
road” exclusively to provide services in the comfort of
client's homes. Office space is available at Body Enhancement on
Great Neck Road if an office setting is preferred.
I have experience working with people of varying ages and
conditions. Several clients started receiving work from me when I was
a student in 1994 and for many others it has been 8 to 11 years since
we connected. It is my honor to be a part of their healthy paths and
it would be a pleasure to be part of yours. Holistic health has much
to do with taking responsibility. We should strive to be as healthy
as possible, making wise choices, on a consistent, daily basis. I see
the ultimate goal as one of wellness, not the expectation of complete
absence of aging and dis-ease. In fact, we can see temporary illness
or chronic issues as a gift. Time, genetics, the environment and
gravity present their share of effects! It is through the body that
we find peace, contentment. It offers the opportunity to surrender,
meet challenges and become aware, alive. In the process we learn to
meet our body where it is and nudge it into new territory, bringing
the Soul along! Early-stage ovarian cancer offered me this very
opportunity in 2005. Being on the other side of the humbling
experience supports these ideas of releasing the need for perfection
and embracing contentment.
I derive balance from experience with nature. I see the body as a
portable nature experience. People residing within cities and
surrounded by modern conveniences are often disconnected with nature
and this can extend to their own physical form. Our culture is
blessed with the bounties of prosperity. The downside is a tendency
to seek outside ourselves for nourishment. As Eckhart Tolle and other
great teachers instruct, there is only life in the Now. The body and
breath can be a very useful portal into the experience of the Now.
